IUS women’s team sweeps Asbury

The IUS women’s basketball team started out strong against Asbury, on Thursday, Feb. 12, and won 67-43 in the Activities Building.

Mailboxes provide security

New, locked mailboxes were installed in Crestview Hall in time for the spring semester. These replaced the former, cubby-style mailboxes.

Police broke up a crowd of 20 people in a dorm room in Grove Lodge at 1:22 a.m. When the officer knocked on the door, someone yelled, “It’s the f–king cops.”

First IUS art professor dead

Jonas A. Howard, former professor emeritus of arts and chairman of the Division of Humanities, died Friday, Jan. 23, due to complications from surgery.

A tree was uprooted and blown down near Physical Sciences during the wind storm on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The wind blew in excess of 60 mph.

SGA allots food money for HHE

The Student Government Association passed a bill that would pay up to $8 per person for students going on the Hoosiers for Higher Education trip on Feb. 17.

Summer session exceeds budget

Last summer’s sessions of classes went over the estimated budget by about $467,000 because of an increase in enrollment for summer courses.

Workers stay on campus

Four IUS Physical Plant employees voluntarily stayed overnight on campus after ice and snow blanketed the area on Jan. 27 and 28. The storms left thousands without power, causing millions of dollars in damage and caused the longest class cancellation since 1994.
